A small community in Germany’s Black Forest is preparing to take in refugees. Housing containers are planned opposite the village swimming pool. When local resident Volker forms a citizens’ initiative to oppose the plan, tensions begin to surface. Long before the refugees arrive, the village’s fragile sense of harmony starts to fracture.

Glatten, a village in Germany’s northern Black Forest, is set to take in 34 refugees. They are supposed to live in container units across from the village’s outdoor swimming pool. Volker, a resident and volunteer at the pool, forms a citizens’ initiative, claiming he wants to protect the village. As disputes over the location and form of the accommodation escalate, the fragile sense of village idyll begins to crumble – long before the refugees arrive.
